Question Tags

Question Tags або Розділові Питання в більшості випадків використовуються для вираження сумніву, уточнення, подиву. Часто це питання, які вимагають підтвердження.

Структура Question Tags завжди виглядає так: в першій частині питання стверджувальна форма допоміжного дієслова, а в другій частині негативна форма допоміжного дієслова в тому ж часу.

  • Marie is very shy, isn't she? – Марі дуже скромна, чи не так?
  • Alan broke a promise, didn’t he? – Алан порушив обіцянку, так?

Закінчення(isn’t she, didn’t he, aren’t they) зазвичай перекладається як «чи не так», «чи не правда», «так».

Бувають випадки, коли у нас в першій частині вже є заперечення. В такому випадку, Question Tag буде ствердним.

 


Для Question Tags характерна зміна інтонації. Якщо QT негативний, то інтонація буде з підвищенням. Як для фрази: «Ти був удома, чи не так?»

Але якщо речення негативне, а QT позитивний, то інтонація буде зі зниження.
